Capt. Adeel Zafar spoke of remembrance and service as a member of the Canadian Forces, and as a teenage boy who had immigrated to Canada from his native Pakistan two decades ago. Zafar’s remarks struck an emotional chord with an audience of approximately 50 adults students, many of them new immigrants, at Burnhamthorpe Adult Learning Centre in Etobicoke.
